Dubai, United Arab Emirates, September 27, 2017 – The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) has concluded another successful edition of its Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) program during the 8th GPCA Fertilizer Convention on September 26 in the Ritz Carlton, Bahrain.

Powered by SABIC, the program’s 4th edition provided students from across the GCC with an opportunity to learn about the regional fertilizer industry and network with senior industry leaders. The program consisted of a student-only seminar and a workshop with tailor made content and hands-on experience delivered by leading consultancy firm, Nexant. At the end of the program students enjoyed a site visit to Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) fertilizer facility where they were taken through an induction on the plant operations.

Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) is an initiative by GPCA together with its stakeholders that aims to bridge the gap between academia and the industry and promote STEM education. With its first edition launched during the Annual Forum in 2016, LOT aims to gear students up with the hands-on experience and skillset required after graduating from universities and starting their career in the industry.

The Leaders of Tomorrow seminar took place as part of the 8th GPCA Fertilizer Convention, taking place at the Ritz Carlton, Manama, between the 26th and the 28th of September. The event is held under the patronage of His Excellency Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, Minister of Oil, Kingdom of Bahrain, who delivered the inaugural address. Under the theme ‘New beginnings: Return to growth’, the convention will offer exclusive insight into the likely impact of new market changes on fertilizer trade, and highlight the key drivers behind future growth.
