Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 1 February 2019 – The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) is proud to announce the launch of the GPCA Innovation Competition as part of the 6th Research and Innovation Summit taking place on 13-14 March at ART Rotana, Amwaj Islands, Bahrain.

The Innovation Competition is GPCA’s latest initiative aimed at promoting innovation among university students in the Arabian Gulf region and bridging the gap between industry and academia in the field of chemistry.

Through this initiative, GPCA aims to engage university students in chemical research and innovation and provide them with a valuable opportunity to gain exposure in the global chemical industry.

The competition is open for final year students currently enrolled in a B.Sc. degree in chemical engineering or chemistry at a university in the GCC.

The competition will provide an opportunity to secure one to two-months internship at leading chemical and petrochemical companies in the region and a cash prizes of AED 10,000 for first place, AED 6,000 for second place and AED 4,000 for third place.

The initiative’s first edition is sponsored by SABIC and Saudi Aramco. Winners will be announced on 13 March at the gala dinner on day one at the 6th GPCA R&I Summit.
