GPCA Board of Directors convened in Muscat, Oman on 21 March for the association’s Annual General Meeting, as Dr. Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun, Secretary General, GPCA, presented the highlights and milestones achieved in 2018

The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) held its Annual General Meeting in Muscat, Oman on 21 March in a session attended by the GPCA Board of Directors, GPCA members, and senior industry leaders.

Dr. Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun, Secretary General, GPCA, opened the meeting with a presentation of GPCA’s milestones in 2018 and highlights of the association’s strategic activities.

During the meeting, GPCA released its 2018 Annual Report which this year was published under the theme ‘Pursuing growth through strategic partnerships’. The report provided an overview of the association’s strategic activities and highlighted the industry’s performance over the past year.

An executive summary of the GPCA Annual Report was presented by Yousef Al-Benyan, Chairman, GPCA and Vice Chairman and CEO, SABIC, during the members only session.

The meeting began a public session led by senior consultants from McKinsey & Company, who discussed key trends such as digitalization and the circular economy and their impact on the chemical industry. Speakers at this session included Dr. Florian Budde, Senior Partner; Chris McNally, Expert Partner; and Vinay Chandran, Partner.

The Annual General Meeting was preceded by a workshop entitled ‘Implementing Industry 4.0 Transformations at Scale’ in partnership with McKinsey & Company held on 20 March in Muscat, Oman.

The workshop covered a wide range of topics around the theme of implementing holistic Industry 4.0 transformations and highlighted the results from McKinsey’s Digital Quotient Survey which was jointly conducted with GPCA across GPCA member companies, attracting responses from over 150 participants.
