Eng. Saleh Bahamdan, CEO of Sahara International Petrochemical Company (SIPCHEM), has joined the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association’s Board of Directors, replacing Ahmed Al Ohali, who was appointed as Head of the General Organization for Military Industries in March.
Bahamdan obtained his Master’s Degree in Engineering from California State University, US in 1983 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Evans Avail Pan Diana University, US in 1980.
He was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Sahara Petrochemicals Company in mid of 2015, and had previously occupied senior executive positions within the economy as well as other Saudi petrochemical companies.
These included Al Waha Petrochemicals Company, where he served as President from 2006 until 2009; SABIC, as Director of Engineering and Project Management from 2001 until 2005; and Jubail Petrochemical Company (Kemya) as Manager of Operations Control from 1997 until 2000.
In October last year, Saudi International Petrochemical Co. signed a non-binding agreement to acquire Sahara Petrochemical Co. in an all-share deal valued at just over USD 2 billion.
Saleh Bahamdan was appointed CEO of the newly formed Sahara International Petrochemical Company in May this year.
