GPCA Research and Innovation Conference
The 7th edition of the GPCA Research and Innovation Conference will return to Dubai, UAE on 26-27 September to discuss the theme ‘Catalyzing a Sustainable Future through R&I’. The conference will be held at the Address Sky View Hotel, Dubai for the first time since the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.
Delegates will be welcomed on day one by Dr. Bob Maughon, EVP, Sustainability, Technology and Innovation and Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer, SABIC, and Chairman, R&I Committee, GPCA. Next on the agenda will be a fireside chat on the role of regulators in enabling a globally competitive chemical industry.
A plenary address will feature Dr. Kevin Cullen, VP of Innovation, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), who will share learnings from industry and academia collaboration, while the second session of the day will spotlight four unique case studies from the region of successful cooperation between chemical companies and academic institutions.
Dr. Moayyed Al- Qurtas, Advisor, R&I Committee, GPCA, will deliver the welcome address on day two, followed by Ahmad Al Khowaiter, Chief Technology Officer, Aramco, who will participate in an executive panel discussion on energy security and sustainable feedstocks for the GCC. Other not to miss topics on the final day of the conference include a look at the new technologies catalyzing the drive towards net-zero, and a masterclass on how the industry can shift to new circular business models.
In line with its mission to support talent development in the region and promote STEM, the 7th edition of the GPCA R&I Conference will include a dedicated competition for undergraduate and postgraduate university students.

GPCA Agri-Nutrients Conference
After its huge success as a virtual event in 2021, the 12th edition of the GPCA Agri-Nutrients Conference will return as a face to face edition on 28-29 September at the Address Sky View Hotel, Dubai under the theme of ‘Resolving Global Food Challenges with Agri-Nutrients’.
The conference will arrive at a crucial time for food security globally, as the war in Ukraine, ongoing supply chain disruptions and rising food prices threaten to leave millions of people around the world in food poverty and put them on the brink of starvation.
The conference will highlight the role of agri-nutrients and the agri-nutrient industry in meeting food security challenges as well as the need for value chain collaboration to ensure no one goes hungry in today’s abundant day and age. It will put under the spotlight innovative technologies and agri-nutrient solutions related to climate-smart agriculture, and facilitate discussions on fertilizer-related emissions, the GCC’s investments to achieve food security in the region, agri-nutrients market trends and industry consolidation.
The welcome remarks on day one will be delivered by Abdulrahman Al-Suwaidi, CEO, QAFCO and Chairman, Agri-nutrients Committee, GPCA. Later in the day, Abdullah Radwan, Head of Differentiations and Disruptive Technology, SABIC Agri-nutrients, will present a case study on high efficiency sustainable fertilizers.
Abdulrahman Shamsaddin, CEO, SABIC Agri-nutrients and Vice-chair, Agri-nutrients Committee, GPCA, will welcome delegates on day two. He will be followed on stage by Omar Boutahar, Senior Director, Corporate Strategy and Business Development, Ma’aden, who will present global industry M&A trends and regional consolidation case studies in a fireside conversation format.
The agri-nutrients supply chain, a crucial element in the industry’s competitiveness and success, will be addressed in the last session of the day from a producer’s and a logistics service provider’s (LSP) perspective who will each share lessons from the pandemic and arising geopolitical tensions to overcome supply chain challenges in the GCC.
