Following the 3rd edition of the GPCA Leaders Forum, GPCA organized its Annual General Assembly meeting in the Sultanate’s capital, Muscat, where GPCA members convened to review the association’s activities in 2022 and its key achievements.
GPCA’s 2023 Annual General Assembly Meeting was held for the second time in Oman, attracting members from across the region to set the association’s priorities for the year ahead and celebrate its achievements.
The event opened with a public session and a presentation from Hanan Bakr, CFA-ESG,H2 Expert Sakr, Head of Private Sector Engagement for the COP28 Presidency Office. The audience also heard about GPCA’s contributions to the chemical industry from our Chairman, Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fageeh, CEO (A), SABIC.
“Over the last year, GCC economies witnessed strong performance on several fronts. We witnessed growth in GCC chemical production. However, the challenging times for the industry are far from over,” he told attendees.
“At GPCA, we were pleased to welcome 44 new members. We witnessed the tremendous success of the 16th Annual GPCA Forum and we continued to advocate for the industry’s position on free trade. We launched new reports and studies and continued to expand our strategic programs and initiatives,” he added.
In conclusion, Al-Fageeh expressed his appreciation to GPCA’s former Chairman, H.E. Yousef Al Benyan, the Board and GPCA members for their support and contribution to the achievements of 2022.
A special highlight of the AGM this year was a detailed annual review presentation on the key milestones achieved by the GPCA Youth Council delivered by the council’s Vice-Chair Alaa Al Lawati.
